don't channel Paris Hilton in the WSJ

There's a large ad in my Wall Street Journal for a company which is "Transforming IT Management":

"This is hot. CA software solutions have been rated as industry leaders a dozen times."

"This is hot"??? That is supposed to make CEOs and CTOs sit up and take notice and make people like the Sober Husband (this very minute out at a Silicon Valley start-up job interview) want to work there?

:D

This is why I’m hot
I dont gotta rap
I can sell a mill sell you nothing on the track
I represent New York
I got it on my back
And they say that we lost it
So I’mma bring it back
I love the dirty dirty
Coz niggas show me love
The ladies start to bounce
As soon as I hit the club
But in the Midwest
They love to take it slow
So when I hit the H
I watch you get it on the floor
And if you needed hyphy
I take it to the bay
Frisco to Sac town
They do it eryday
Coppin a Hollywood
As soon as I hit LA
I’m in that low low
I do it the cali way

This is why I’m hot
This is why I’m hot
This is why
This is why
This is why I’m hot (uh)

One of my old college friends clued me in on the unofficial motto for CA (if it's the CA that refers to Computer Associates)...

Where good software goes to die.

So Herr Söber von Iris über Alles is looking for another job? Details, details, details! Anxiety laden software developers in the Heartland want to know.

Eh, he's fidgety and we need more money. There's no crisis... in the ideal outcome, he'd still remain affiliated with his current employer but work for someone else as well. He's a powerhouse, and he needs more challenges. Also, his current start-up can't afford to give him a raise.

Nice lyrics, Aya!

Ech! Sorry to hear about the non-raise environment. Best of luck on that quest for more green.

I've worked for my startup for close 14 months now, and I still have yet to have my 6-month review.

It might be a moot point, though, because I think that the company might be teetering its way to being a F***ed Company Hall of Fame inductee sometime soon. Feel free to join me for cocktails at the Happy Fun Slander corner when it does. ;-)

His current company is too small to have 6 month reviews or reviews at all (they don't even have an HR person).

Years ago we used to read FC, and we used to search it regularly for his old start-up (which every now and then was discussed there).

I know that feeling. We're down to a CEO, a CTO, and two developers (I'm included in that count). That other developer gave notice last week, but they're trying to reel him back in with a job being a liason out in the Bay Area with the company with whom they're just convinced they'll seal a deal with.

If he quits, and they do land the deal, and they wind up sending me out that way, can I drag Sober out for a night of untold carnivorous exploits? If that sounds too much like asking, I'll be sure to lie about it before hand.
