Yesterday I had a migraine and my mother-in-law was in town.
In the evening Iris Uber Alles came up stairs to visit me on my sickbed. She was near tears over a conflict with her little sister in which evidently the winsome Lola had achieved a grandmother-assisted victory. We put on "The Simpsons" and snuggled. Looking up with love, Iris asked, "Will Mommy ever leave me?"
It was the only nice thing that happened to me in days.
awww! that's so sweet!
Ok, I'll play along...
What a sweet thing. I'm sorry you've been having a hard time.
that is rough that you've not had a nice thing happen in days. hope things pick up.
"Yesterday I had a migraine and my mother-in-law was in town. But I repeat myself..."
Those are the nice days. I always like (in a totally transparent self-centered way) the days when after too much bickering, my actively individuating daughter, feeling insecure in her new identity, turns to me and says, "I don't ever want you to die, Mommy."
Sweet, but so full of ugliness, I wouldn't want to examine it too closely.
