Pigwidgeon, our moronic African grey parrot, has utterly failed to learn to talk so far. But! Over the last few days she has taken up meowing and purring. She sounds exactly like our cats.
This seems to be a linguistic development, just not the one we wanted.

Hee! Why am I having a flashback to those evil Siasmese cats in Lady and the Tramp. This is just the first volley, soon the cat will be taking over the entire house, with the African parrot as their part of the cannon fodder.
My sister once had a parrot that wouldn't talk, but he would meow, cough and cry like a baby. That was the most annoying bird in the world!
it might be easier to teach the cats to talk first then the bird will just be a gift with purchase
I say leave a tape recorder playing all day with dirty sea shanties.
I think Hugh has the comment of the week here.
You HAVE to post your gray parrot purring ... THAT would make my day! :) /dawn (dfratzke)
